The production volume of electricity from solar photovoltaic power in the European Union has been steadily increasing in the last years. In 2024, the EU's solar PV power production stood at over 296 terawatt-hours.

The EU Solar Manufacturing map gives an overview of solar manufacturing companies active along the solar PV chain. On this map, you'll find manufacturers spanning from polysilicon to module as well as the aggregate production capacities for each segment.

The European Solar PV Industry Alliance (ESIA) aims to facilitate and de-risk the scaling up of Europe's solar PV manufacturing to cover 30 GW of domestic manufacturing capacities by 2025, thus supporting the EU's decarbonization targets and at the same time ensuring long-term competitiveness of the EU industries.

In 2024, the EU's solar PV power production stood at over 296 terawatt-hours. In comparison, solar PV generation one year earlier was 248 terawatt hours, which indicates an increase in production of roughly 20 percent in just one year.

The Alliance has created four working groups: Non-Pricing conditions (Demand-side policies), Supply Chain, Financing, and Skills led by key industry players such as Carbon, Enel Greenpower, Engie, IBC, Meyer Burger Technology AG and Wacker Chemie AG, to elaborate a series of concrete actions that will re-invigorate the European solar PV industry.

He emphasized that production equipment is a vital part of Europe's reindustrialization and that the solar sector can leverage its potential through initiatives such as the International Solar Manufacturing Initiative.
