This work focuses on analyzing the performance of the boiler in Khartoum North Thermal Power Plant by applying the 2nd law of thermodynamics through exergy analysis.
2.1. Khartoum north steam turbine power plant boiler The boiler exhibits several key features, designed as a water tube system with natural circulation and incorporating low oxygen and micro-positive pressure combustion.
As the boiler load increases to 55% BMCR, the maximum exergy destruction escalates to 38631.25 kW, constituting around 13.3% of the exergy input. At the highest boiler load of 90% BMCR, the maximum exergy destruction reaches 44814.97 kW, representing about 12.7% of the exergy input to the boiler.
