Batteries are considered to be well-established energy storage technologies that include notable characteristics such as high energy densities and elevated voltages .
Energy storage systems are designed to capture and store energy for later utilization efficiently. The growing energy crisis has increased the emphasis on energy storage research in various sectors. The performance and efficiency of Electric vehicles (EVs) have made them popular in recent decades.
Energy storage systems (ESS) serve an important role in reducing the gap between the generation and utilization of energy, which benefits not only the power grid but also individual consumers.
Battery management systems (BMS) monitor and control battery performance in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and portable electronics. The recommendations for various open challenges are mentioned in Fig. 29, and finally, a few add-on constraints are mentioned in Fig. 30.
Battery storage plays an essential role in balancing and managing the energy grid by storing surplus electricity when production exceeds demand and supplying it when demand exceeds production. This capability is vital for integrating fluctuating renewable energy sources into the grid.
