Hence, design engineers are looking for new materials for efficient ESS, and materials scientists have been studying advanced energy materials, employing transition metals and carbonaceous 2D materials, that may be used to develop ESS.
The addition of interlayers, high-concentration electrolytes, or their combination represents a promising pathway to improve cycle life and safety in alkali metal batteries. Liu et al. suggested hybrid electrolytes combining liquid and solid phases to mitigate dendrite growth.
Hence, Scientists are striving for new materials and technologies to develop more efficient ESS. Among energy storage technologies, batteries, and supercapacitors have received special attention as the leading electrochemical ESD. This is due to being the most feasible, environmentally friendly, and sustainable energy storage system.
New materials and compounds are being explored for sodium ion, potassium ion, and magnesium ion batteries, to increase energy storage capabilities. Additional development methods, such as additive manufacturing and nanotechnology, are expected to reduce costs and accelerate market penetration of energy storage devices.
